Kryta and Ascalon enemies?
I walked out of ToA and noticed right away that little Thom said this. Not really clear about what time frame he's referring to, but I found it interesting.

That would be the time before searing when Kryta, Ascalon and Orr was having their Guild Wars.

I thought the Guild Wars ended when Grenth lost his throne...that was way before the time Pre-sear ascalon takes place, by that point the Guilds had been confined to the battle isles.
That's what I gathered anyway.

What pre-searing Ascalon guard has to say about this:
Also from the The Lore of Guild Wars book that was included with the game:
"The Guild Wars raged for decades, fuelled by the desire for power and the influence of the Bloodstones. Never did the peace accords last long. Never did the negotiations take root. The conflict claimed the lives of many hundreds of thousands. It uprooted families, made neighbours into enemies, and soured the relations between the human nations, perhaps irrevocably."
"Eventually, as all things do, the wars did come to an end. But it was not the words of the silver-tongued peace negotiators or even the rough hand of a conquering hero that ended the Guild Wars. The resolution was instead brought about by an even greater war - a war brought by the Charr. In unprecedented numbers, the beasts from the north swept down through all three human kingdoms. Ascalon, Orr and Kryta, embroiled in conflict with one another for more than fifty years, dropped their grudges and turned their attentions to defending their borders against the new threat."

He becomes a deserter and hide his crest with another dead body to say "he is dead", which is a cover to go to shiverpeaks and flee Ascalon. Old Mack is an error in the name, thats all.

It was Seargent Brannen (I think) that Thom put his crets on to fake his death.

To be extremely specific:
1070 AE - Guild Wars End
1071 AE - Bay of Sirens is renamed the Sea of Sorrows
1072 AE - Present Day (Pre-Searing Ascalon)
1074 AE - Present Day (Post-Searing Ascalon)
So, four years after the Guild Wars, King Adelburn banished Prince Rurik when the Prince suggested Ascalons go to Kryta and rebuild their strength.
Direct quote, King Adelburn NPC, Final Cinematic, Nolani Academy Mission - "I will not allow Ascalon to live in the shadow of the Krytans! You are no longer my prince, and you are no longer my son!"

I disagree with this. The one line previous to "Guild Wars End" you didn't include in your list:
1070 AE - Charr invade human kingdoms
That's the searing. 1070 is the Present Day of pre-searing Ascalon and 1072 is the real Present Day.

I don't really know why you are telling me that. Unless you are saying I'm wrong about something, but then you need to be more specific than that.

Ah, yeah... as Rathcail beat me to saying, you are incorrect.
1070 - Charr Invade Human kingdoms
1070 - Guild Wars End
(they ended because the Charr invaded, hence why it's on the same year)
1072 - Present Day (post searing)
I understand where you got confused, they shouldn't have made two slots for the same year, but instead continued with a semicolon ';' following the first article.
But, for the record, it's only 1072 in the Post Searing part of the Prophecies campaign.

When the Charr invaded the human kingdoms, the Charr War started. If you read everything in the manuscripts I believe it states that Kryta was able to destroy the Charr invading their country, and that Orr was sunken by the King's advisor when the Charr pushed through the gates of Arrah. Nowhere does it say specifically that the Searing was in the year 1070, although it does state that Ascalon had been defending it's wall for years before the Searing. This leads me to believe that, infact the 'Present Day' refers to Pre-Searing, not to mention the fact that you begin the game in Pre-Searing and not in Post-.

When the Charr brung the Wall down, many of them have passed. These Charrs were going to Orr to destroy it (managing to go there is really shroud in the mystery except there was a bridge that passed to go to Crystals Desert in Regent Valley). Charrs live in the north of Ascalon (maybe all the north of Tyria).

To quote the manuscripts: "Their magic scorched the ground and the human cities as they swept through the Wall and moved on to Orr."
Searing started the Charr invasion. They went through the wall by destroying the Ascalon area and moved on to other targets.
Edit: Some more quotes: "While Ascalon, Orr and Kryta were busy fighting each other, they became blind to the threat from the north - the Charr. The northern beasts swept in, taking Ascalon in a spectacular magical battle."
"The Charr had to make their way through Ascalon before they could reach the gates of Arah. But eventually Ascalon fell and the Charr arrived in Orr."

Also the quest in Pre-searing where you carry the honeycomb over the bridge, you get that from a Krytan and she says I know you would be less than enthusiastic to help since our nations are at war... Or something like that.
